MAKING INVISIBLE HARM
IMPOSSIBLE TO IGNORE.

This self-initiated project grew from something I care deeply about: the lasting harm caused by verbal and emotional abuse, especially when it is dismissed because it leaves no visible bruise.

I developed an awareness campaign that gives painful words a physical presence. Hurtful phrases surround and overwhelm quiet, vulnerable portraits, showing how repeated language can follow someone long after it is spoken. Desaturated photography, dramatic lighting, and an intentionally dense typographic treatment create discomfort without depicting physical violence.

The message, “Your words hurt more than you think,” brings the concept into focus and encourages viewers to recognize emotional abuse and help stop it. The campaign was designed to extend across print and high-visibility public placements.

This was an independent concept project and was not commissioned or endorsed by Children’s Institute, Inc.
